The Postgraduate Program in Dentistry at the Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri has the mission of promoting social transformations through the training of qualified human resources and the production of scientific and technological knowledge, with a focus on improving people’s health and quality of life.
Our mission is pursued through the Master’s and Doctorate courses in Dentistry by the professional training of masters and doctors dedicated to teaching and scientific research, with a focus on the areas of concentration in Clinical Dentistry and Pediatric Dentistry.

Areas of Concentration
The Postgraduate Program in Dentistry is structured in two areas of concentration, Clinical Dentistry and Pediatric Dentistry, with three lines of research that include projects with a professional training profile in the area of Dentistry and related areas.
Research Lines
Epidemiology and control of oral diseases in childhood and adolescence: evaluate the epidemiological evidence related to the prevalence, incidence, and risk factors of oral diseases, in addition to social inequalities.
Inflammatory, cystic, and neoplastic lesions of the oral cavity: evaluate oral cavity lesions through clinical-epidemiological and laboratory studies.
Physical, chemical, and biological properties of dental materials: evaluate the properties and performance of direct and indirect endodontic and restorative materials, liners, and adhesives, trying to simulate oral conditions to verify mechanical, biological, and physical-chemical properties.
